Martina's acceptance speech
for winning Female Vocalist Of The Year at the Country Music Association
Awards 2002
Martina says
holding back tears: “Oh... I was not prepared for this emotion that I’m
feeling. It’s just... so amazing that I get to live this dream. And I’m so
grateful to everybody who worked so hard to make it happen. And I’m really
especially happy because my mom and dad are here tonight... (Martina cries
even more and the audience applauds) And it just means so much to share this
with them because they’ve... just given me everything all my life and
encouraged me and gave me unconditional love and support. And I just... I
wanna thank the fans and country radio and CMT... My husband John, my
partner... My manager Bruce Allen, RCA Records, Joe Gelante, everybody...
Thank you so much, thank you!”

| Martina's
acceptance speech for winning
Female Artist Of The Year at the
Academy of Country Music Awards 2002
"Oh my goodness! Oh my goodness! Oh... Ah... I
want to thank RCA records: Joe Galante, Butch Wa*, John Elliott, everybody
that works so hard over there, my promotion staff, Keith Gail, Mike Wilson
and all the regionals that get my songs played on country radio. I want to
thank country radio and CMT for bringing my music to the fans"
****(Pause) (Martina looking down, Martina looking up in the audience and
smiling)****
"And the Fans!!! (Another pause) for still, seems to be interested in what I
have to say for 10 years later, thank you so much. Ron Barrett at CAA, Paul
Worley, of course Bruce Allen, my sweet husband John, my sweet little girls
Delaney and Emma.
And I want to say this for a couple of years but I haven't get the chance to
get up here but now I'm up here, I want to say that there's a woman who is,
has set the standards for all of us females in country music. She's a
friend, a mentor, an incredible example and an inspiration to all of us, and
of course I'm talking about Reba McEntire. (Pause). I just wanted to say
'Thank you Reba" and I'm taking this home in your honor! Thank you!" |

award, my husband, I think really wants me to win more than I do, so I'm
really happy for you honey. (the audience laughs and applauses) And I... Oh
gosh, there's so many people... To Joe Gelante, to Bruce Allen and to Paul
Worley for being... For giving me so much guidance and support in this
career. And my band and crew on the road, all the fans that come out to the

laughs) I... I wanna thank Deaton, Flaningen and everybody that worked on
the video. Where are you guys by the way? You're supposed to be up here...
You guys, thanks so much for putting so much of yourself and so much work
into this video. I wanna thank the people of (... geez, help me with that
name!!!), Tennessee, where we shot the video. RCA records, everybody at
RCA records, especially Mary Hamilton. CMT and TNN for being behind my
